Piazzolla is the most internationally renowned Argentine composer of the 20th century. The nuevo tango (new tango) he invented blends in music elements from classical music, jazz and other genres. He singlehandedly elevated tango, from the grassroots popular dance music, into a sophisticated, highly artistic and profound musical form, and he himself become the definite icon in modern and contemporary Argentine culture. As 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Piazzolla, we will pay tribute to this trailblazer with a concert featuring a rich variety of tango works. Fans will enjoy several signature pieces by the foremost tango composer while also appreciating the magical variety of tango music through works by Chinese and French composers!
