Maestro Hu Yongyan is an internationally acclaimed conductor. He founded an orchestra academy at the Central Conservatory of Music. In 2018, he was awarded the Yale Presidential Award as a Distinguished Visiting Professor. In this season opening, Hu Yongyan and the pianist Hao Duanduan , who is the winner of the 63rd Geneva International Music Competition in Switzerland , the 5th International Piano Competition Shanghai, in China, are directing the Macao Orchestra to open the new season with a performance of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 in E flat Major, Op. 73 “Emperor”, together to strike the grandeur and sweeping heroic gestures of the concerto. In the same concert Macao Orchestra will also present Overture to “Coriolan”, Op. 62 and Symphony No. 6 in F Major, Op. 68 “Pastoral” from Beethoven, express the feelings of joy and gratitude after the Tempest.
