Symphonies written by Haydn and Beethoven (who had a teacher-pupil relationship) are absolutely best choices for one to have a feel into the rich and beautiful world of classical music. Macao Orchestra Assistant Conductor Francis Kan will conduct OM to present the two composers’ representative works. Firstly, Haydn’s Symphony No. 92, aka the Oxford Symphony – it’s said that the composer travelled to England to conduct it at a ceremony in 1791 in which he was awarded an honorary doctoral degree by Oxford University – followed by Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8, completed by the composer in a rarely cheerful mood after a trip in 1812. The two classics are a showcase of the richness and wondrousness of symphony music.
