Li Chi ( Associate Concertmaster )

Chi Li started playing the violin at the age of 5 and was described by La Depêche as “a prodigy”, after his debut with the Orchestre de Chambre de Toulouse, age 12.

Since then, Chi Li has performed across the globe and has appeared as the soloist with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, as well as the Concertmaster for Florentine Opera, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. He received rave reviews from the Boston Globe: “superb performance”; the HuffPost: “sublimely etched”, “blistering playing”.

Chi Li was awarded the top prize at Académie Ravel in 2012 and was a laureate at the 2013 Montreal International Music Competition. In 2017, he received the Jules C. Reiner Violin Prize from the Tanglewood Music Center and Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Under the tutelage of Régis Pasquier, Olivier Charlier and Joanna Matkowska, Chi Li obtained the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP) with the highest honor, after which he pursued a Graduate Diploma at the New England Conservatory.

Between 2017 and 2022, Chi Li played in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in the first violin section and later served as the Acting Assistant Concertmaster. Subsequently, he was hired by the then-Music Director of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Jaap van Zweden to join the orchestra in the first violin section.

He is currently the Associate Concertmaster of the Macao Orchestra
