Borodin: In the Steppes of Central Asia
Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74, “Pathétique”
En Shao is a Fellow Member of the Royal Northern College of Music, UK. He is also head of Conducting Department of China Conservatory of Music and Principal Conductor of the Orchestra Academia China. Also, he was Principal Conductor of the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, local fans are very familiar with Maestro En Shao as he was Macao Orchestra’s Music Director and Principal Conductor for six years. In this season, Shao will conduct OM again, presenting two extremely popular Russian pieces, namely Borodin’s symphonic poem In the Steppes of Central Asia depicting a dreamy journey across the steppeds, and, Tchaikovsky “Symphony No. 6 – Pathétique”. The latter was described by Tchaikovsky himself as a work with “an impeccable beauty beyond words”, and it seemed to be the composer’s most satisfactory work.
