Schubert and Brahms are both revered as the greatest masters of Austrian-German symphony music of the 19th century. In addition to adhering to the classical music traditions laid by Mozart and Beethoven, they also fully displayed the spirit of romanticism and created their own unique music styles. On one hand, the Double Concerto in A minor for violin and cello, which features mature technique and deep emotions, is Brahms’s last orchestral work. On the other hand, the Symphony No. 4 carries Schubert’s sadness and thoughts at the age of 19. So, between Brahms’s late bloom and Schubert’s young wisdom, which one is more touching?
